I love getting absorbed in these songs and pretending I am a character, either famous or just made up in my mind. That imagination serves two purposes: 1) it gives me more encouragement to work harder, 2) it distracts from how tired I am. These songs greatly serve those purposes.
“Eye Conqueror” - Third Eye Blind
This was on the soundtrack of A Knight’s Tale. It never appeared in the film but it definitely should have. It has a cool beat and chorus about being a defeater of malevolence. Perfect for those days when you feel like you’re up against evil itself.
“Saturday night’s alright” - Nickelback featuring Kid Rock
For those of you who like the original by Elton John, I’m sorry but that doesn’t have the sounds to work out to. This new version featured in Charlie’s Angels 2 works wonderful for running, particularly some a-hole ruined your night out on the town.
“Communication Breakdown” - Led Zepplin
Classics get the job done. The guitar riffs and the screaming lyrics give you a great push during exercising.
“The Immigrant Song” - Led Zepplin
It almost like this song was made for people to fight to it. Its meaning can be a bit debatable, but it still provides great tunes for a fight. Use at your own risk!
“El Distorto De Melodica” - Everclear
I only knew about this song because I listened to their album “So much for the afterglow” a million times. It is instrumental but I found it very motivating when I felt enraged.
“All my life” - Foo Fighters
Extremely fast tempo makes it another one for running or cardio. I like to pretend I am “The Bride” in Kill Bill, and I’m surrounded by several guards. Then I defeat them “one by one, on to the next one.”
“Here comes the boom” - Nelly
One of the great work out songs, where you want to picture yourself knocking someone out in one shot.
