I know I have listed several songs that could work for running, but these are especially terrific for pushing yourself through every mile. I need to change up my songs for my running workout more often than regular workouts, because I need the constant change to keep me motivated. It takes a lot more out of me to run than other exercises and I need variety.
“Sun’s Gonna Rise” - Citizen Cope
I love using this song when I have like 10 minutes left of a run and am exhausted. I can just think that “the sun’s gonna rise in a mile” and my fortitude will pay off.
“Ready to Go” - Republica
Nice uplifting song that pushes you over your limit with its catchy beat. I like to think of myself ready to go defeat some evil force.
“Time Running” - Tegan and Sara
Obviously, the title implies its compatibility with our topic. I like to workout to this whenever I feel like I am waiting for something to happen. I’m stuck in limbo for the next step in my life and I run to pass the time.
“Run for it” - Delerium/Leigh Nash of Sixpence None the Richer
Since this song is around 6 minutes, I enjoy it at the beginning of a long run. Her voice soothes my nerves. I’d pick this song for those days when you have to make a tough decision that you know is the right choice.
“Running” - No doubt
Even though this song is slower than most, I like the idea of metaphorically running through your life together. Listening to this while actually jogging makes me smile as I dream of finding my true running buddy.
“Here it goes again” - Ok Go
The fact that the music video includes treadmills already qualifies this for our running workout. The music also pulses throughout the tune and works perfectly for sprinting or a high speed/low incline run.
