EXERCISE MUSIC – BAD DAY – part two Music is definitely my therapy, and I don’t think I could survive those horrible days without it. In addition to my workout, I can play them on the way to work or from it, while walking around a store, etc.
“I hear noises” – Tegan and Sara
When someone close to you slips away, you feel empty and alone. I also listen to this song when I feel “so unwelcome” like in an awkward situation or surrounded by inhospitable people.
“You wouldn’t like me” – Tegan and Sara
This is MY THEME SONG! There are numerous instances when I feel absolutely unlikeable and “I feel like I wouldn’t like me if I met me.” Every now and then, my low self-esteem becomes inevitable and I use this exercise music to raise it back up.
“Torn” – Natalie Imbruglia
I loved this song so much back in ’97 I bought the album. It’s a perfect combination of angry and hopeless. Great running song that’s best used in those days when you have no energy to be optimistic but just enough to workout.
“Sympathy” – Sleater-Kinney
Another one of my favs . . . I often feel like I am cursed or something. As soon as something mildly good happens, an extremely horrible event occurs. On those days when I feel like I just can’t win, I play this now defunct girl band during my workout as I imagine living another life.
“Testing 1, 2, 3” – Barenaked Ladies
When you feel invisible and you feel nostalgic for the past, play this on your mp3 player. It can only get better from here, right?
“Pinch me” – Barenaked Ladies
We all hate those boring and repetitive days and we’re only positive that our life will never change. This has a nice beat whenever you feel like a slower workout.
More therapeutic exercise music for those awful days on the way . . .
